Tash's Famous Caramels!

Grab your aprons & get ready to enter your baking era, your sweet tooth will thank you! Today, we're diving into the sweet + delightful world of one of our Ivy City founders, Tash Thomas, and her famous soft caramel recipe. It's as fabulous as she is!

Every year she makes these irresistible caramels with her secret recipe. This year, she spilt the tea (or in this case, the caramel) on the secret behind her fave sweet treat! You'll LOVE them!

Prep Time: 30 min 
Cook Time: 30 min 
2 C - Sugar
1½ C - Dark Karo Syrup
2 - Sticks of Butter
2 C - Heavy Whipping Cream
1 tsp. - Vanilla

    1. Combine sugar, Karo Syrup, Butter + 1C Heavy Whipping Cream.
    2. Stir & bring to a fast boil for 5 minutes
    3. Add other cup of cream, one tablespoon at a time, stirring in between.
    4. Cook on medium heat, stirring once in awhile, until a soft boil, 240°.
    5. Pour in a buttered 8 × 8-inch pan. Cool in refrigerator.
    6. When cold, go around edges of candy with a sharp knife.
    7. Turn upside down until candy falls out.
    8. Cut into strips & then into pieces.
    9. Wrap in wax paper.
    (tie them caramels with cute bows to do it the ivy way!)
