She has a heart gold and excellent taste, and we know you’ll love the dresses we’ve dreamed up together. Before the collection launches, we want you to get to know the style icon behind this amazing collection through this Q&A with Lindsay herself.
We are so excited for this collaboration! Why did you pick Ivy City Co to work with & what does this collection mean to you?
"As soon as I found out I was pregnant & was having a girl, I immediately dreamed of creating a mommy and me collection. This has been something I've always dreamt of for as long as I can remember. Before even working with Ivy City Co, I loved the brand, their dresses, and mission. I feel like they just did everything right, and so I immediately knew that I wanted to work with them on this mommy collection. I feel so grateful and blessed because the dresses are truly one of a kind. This collection means so much to me as it celebrates and honors the most important women in my life. I named the three dresses in my collection after my mom, my daughter, and my late mother-in-law. I love these women dearly and would not be the woman I am today without them. Each of them has had such a huge impact on my life, so this collection is inspired by them and dedicated to them!"
This collection is themed around motherhood. As a new mom, what is the most important thing you want to teach your daughter?
"I want Sage to know that she is loved beyond measure and supported and will always have her parents cheering her on through every endeavor she takes. I hope by raising her, she knows that she is strong, powerful, beautiful, special, and the most important person in our lives, and she is going to have such a huge impact on the world. She can truly do anything she sets her mind to, and I will be there for her every step of the way."
What advice would you give to women trying to balance motherhood & their career dreams?
"The best day advice I can give is to believe in yourself and know that you can do it. It can be extremely daunting and terrifying at times and almost can seem impossible, but it is possible. You know yourself better than anybody else, and you know your limit, so go for it - pursue your dreams be an incredible mother, and know that that is something to be so incredibly proud of."
What is the most important thing you've learned from your mother?
"I have learned so many things from my mother and so many things that I want to teach Sage as well, but one thing that I think has really helped me out throughout life, throughout my career, and into motherhood is always to be myself. She taught all of my sisters and me never to change based on our surroundings or for anybody. She also taught me to be confident and proud of who I am, and with that, everything will fall into place."
Why dresses? Can you talk a little bit about what fashion means to you & how it plays a role in showing yourself love as a new mom?
"As a dancer, I have always loved expressing myself through the different outfits that I wear, whether that's a costume or a beautiful dress. Going into motherhood, I've learned that it's a very rare occasion that I get to be all dressed up and feel beautiful and pretty, and that's why I wanted to create this collection. I wanted to create beautiful dresses that moms can put on and feel beautiful and confident in and express their individuality. We should celebrate ourselves because we deserve self-love and self-care. I also really love that this was a mommy and daughter collection because everything I do now is for Sage, my beautiful daughter. I'm so excited that I can dress up and match with her and have a wonderful mommy and me moment. "
